After an active 3 days in Cape Town, hiking, cycling, supping and of course wine tasting you’ll be flying to the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. Here, you’ll experience premier game viewing, destination dining, guided walks, all with a photographic edge. Learn to take the perfect shot guided by your tutor, edit your image in the Photography Studio and have the finished image printed and shipped home*. Heading North to Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, you’ll have night game drives, bird watching and the chance to see an abundance of different wildlife. Keep a look out for African wild dog who can be spotted moving through the reserve!

Ending your trip back in Cape Town, you’ll spend 2 nights at the beautiful 12 Apostles Hotel. Situated above the Atlantic Ocean, you’ll have time to relax and reminisce on your holiday. Visit the spa, indulge in a private cinema viewing or simply sit by the pool, looking out at the playful dolphins which pass by.

Day 1 | Arrive in Cape Town | Hotel: The Silo Hotel

  • On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be met and transferred to The Silo Hotel situated above Zeitz MOCAA within the vibrant V&A Waterfront.

Day 2 | Cape Town | Hotel: The Silo Hotel

  • Begin your day with Stand Up Paddle Boarding on the canals of the V&A Waterfront. Gain confidence balancing on the board in the sheltered canals. Next, cycle to Sea Point to explore the art installations, which reference Cape Town’s political history and style.
  • Enjoy a well-deserved lunch on Bree Street known for its gastronomic delights.
  • Walk off lunch along the cobbled streets of Bo Kaap. Passing the colourful 17th century houses, experience this vibrant suburb and its many Muslim shrines and mosques. Reaching the top of Table Mountain, your guide will lead you away from the crowds on a short hike. Take in the spectacular views, brought alive by the narration of your expert guide.

Day 3 | Cape Town | Hotel: The Silo Hotel

  • Zip past the crowded tourist spots with your local guide, instead finding hidden gems in this stunning region. Begin in Muizenberg, the ‘surf mecca’ of False Bay. From here journey the along the coastline to the village of Kalk Bay. Browse the arts and crafts of this bohemian village. Next, head to Simon’s Town to search for rogue penguins, on a beach known only to locals.
  • Lunch will be held in a secret spot along the Peninsula. Immerse yourself in an interactive botanical experience, that will allow you to learn more about the fynbos in the South Peninsula and to discover the exciting new world of wild flavours Cape town has to offer.
  • Working off lunch, you’ll embark on a gentle hike in the Cape Peninsula Reserve discovering secluded beaches and shipwrecks. The return journey weaves back to Cape Town via Noordhoek, stopping for some superb wine tasting at Cape Point Vineyards, producer of some of South Africa’s finest Sauvignon Blanc.

Day 4 | Cape Town | Hotel: The Silo Hotel

  • Having had a taster of South African wines on Day 3, we’ve included a day trip of this wonderful region which is not to be missed! Explore some of the best vineyards and restaurants in the Franschhoek & Stellenbosch Valley.
  • Visit a working farm dating back to 1692, Babylonstoren is a historic Cape Dutch farm that boasts one of the best preserved farmyards in the Cape. Next head to the heart of the French inspired Franschhoek Valley.
  • Lunch will be at the picturesque wine estate, offering a spectacular setting to accompany the tapas style taste sensations in their fine dining cuisine. After Lunch, your guide will give you an overview of options as you choose between visiting Muratie – one of the oldest estate in Stellenbosch; or Kanonkop, located on the Simonsberg Mountains.

Day 5-8 | Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve | Hotel: Londolozi, Founders Camp

  • After a short connecting flight from Cape Town to Londolozi’s private airstrip and a short private transfer, you’ll have arrived at Londolozi, Founders Camp.
  • Over the next 3 days, you’ll experience the best of Londolozi. The rangers and trackers are some of the best in South Africa. With 2 game drives in open-topped Land Rovers per day you’ll have the chance to see the resident lion prides, elephant herds, wild dog packs, and maybe you can spot the local leopards that Londolozi is famous for! Or, escape the vehicle and explore on foot accompanied by your ranger and tracker.
  • To enhance this experience and for you and your family to come away with both a new skillset and captured memories, you’ll have a specialist photography safari. With an expert ranger, you’ll learn how to take the perfect shot, find the ideal lighting and focus in on the local wildlife for that close up shot! Return to camp and access the photography studio where you can crop and filter you’re images. Camera equipment can be rented from Londolozi for an additional cost.

Day 9-12 | Timbavati Private Game Reserve | Hotel: Ngala Safari Lodge

  • Board your Federal Air aircraft shuttle flight from Londolozi Private Game Reserve to Ngala Safari Lodge.
  • Encounter an abundance of wildlife! Get your ‘Big 5’ checklist ready, as you head out on safari in the Timbavati Private Game Reserve. Ngala was the first private game reserve in Kruger National Park and has traversing rights for over 14,000 hectares of wilderness. The rangers and trackers are skilled spotters and for a close up experience will drive off-road.

Day 13-14 | Cape Town | Hotel: The 12 Apostles Hotel

  • Travelling back to Cape Town you’ll have a short connecting flight, arriving in the afternoon.
  • Over the next 2 days, you’ve got time to leisurely explore Cape Town’s V&A waterfront with shops and restaurants or unwind at the hotel.

Day 15 | Cape Town | Hotel: The 12 Apostles Hotel

  • Picked up from the hotel and transferred to Cape Town international Airport for your onward flight.

Essential Information

When is the best time to go

South Africa can be visited year round. The Cape has beautiful weather between November and February. For those looking to include whale watching, the season is between July and November. For viewing game in the northern regions the cooler months from May to September are best.

passport/visa requirements

British citizens do not require a visa, If they’re visiting South Africa for tourism or business purposes for a period of up to 90 days.

Need to know

In order to enjoy all of the activities we recommend packing sensible footwear and clothing. A neutral colour palette is recommended for on safari; cream and khaki clothing is best. Trainers or walking shoes are also advised. We’d recommend using a soft bag rather than a suitcase for internal flights and helicopter journeys.
