Settle into a characterful lodge on a coffee estate at the foot of Mount Meru
Tanzania brings together some of East Africa’s most iconic landscapes. Begin near Arusha, at a peaceful lodge set within a working coffee estate. From here, the route climbs into the highlands near the Ngorongoro Crater, where a country house-style retreat on a historic estate provides a refined base for crater game drives and walks in the surrounding hills.
Next, the focus shifts to the Serengeti. A luxury tented camp in the northern sector places the group close to a river that draws wildlife year-round and, in season, forms part of the route of the Great Migration. Shared game drives head out at first light and in the late afternoon, when the light is low, and the animals are most active. Evenings are for lantern-lit dinners, stories by the fire and listening to the sounds of the bush.
The final chapter unfolds on Zanzibar, where a spacious villa at a beachfront resort becomes home for almost a week. Days are deliberately unhurried and can be shaped around family rhythm, whether that means long swims, dhow cruises at sunset, spice and Stone Town excursions or simply time together in a private pool and garden.Â

Day
1
Depart London in the afternoon for an overnight flight to the Gulf. Settle in on board, adjust watches and let the journey begin.
Day
2
Arrive in Doha in the late evening and continue overnight to Kilimanjaro, landing in Tanzania the following morning. After clearing formalities, meet a local driver guide and travel by road toward Arusha. The landscape shifts from open plains to the gentle foothills of Mount Meru, where a peaceful lodge tucked within a coffee plantation offers cool gardens, a pool and wide verandas.
Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Take a short walk among the coffee trees, visit the spa or simply rest with a drink in hand as the light fades over the estate.
Day
3-4
After breakfast, return to the nearby airstrip for a short scenic flight out to the Rift Valley and Lake Manyara. A driver is waiting at the airstrip for the journey up into the highlands, where a gracious manor-style lodge sits within a large coffee estate close to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Lunch on the terrace and an afternoon walk or ride on the estate offer a first taste of the cooler highland air.
The following day is devoted to the Ngorongoro Crater. An early start allows time to descend the crater wall and spend unhurried hours on the floor of this vast natural amphitheatre. Freshwater lakes, open grassland and acacia woodland support an extraordinary concentration of wildlife, from large tusker elephants and prides of lion to herds of zebra, wildebeest and buffalo. A picnic is served at a scenic spot before a slow drive back up the rim and home to the manor in time for a fireside drink and dinner.
Day
5-6
Leave the highlands behind and travel back to the Lake Manyara airstrip for the onward flight into the Serengeti. The route by light aircraft reveals the scale of the ecosystem, with scattered kopjes and sinuous rivers visible from the air. On landing in the northern sector, a camp vehicle waits at the bush strip for the game drive transfer to a refined tented camp near a perennial river.
Over the next two nights, shared game drives explore the surrounding plains and riverine woodland. This region is known for large resident herds, excellent predator sightings and, at the right time of year, dramatic scenes as the Great Migration pushes through. Between drives, return to camp for lunch, time by the pool or a quiet hour on the deck watching hippo and birdlife along the water. Evenings unfold with sundowners in the bush, then dinner beneath a canopy of stars.
Day
7-12
After a final morning at camp, travel back to the airstrip for the flight south to Arusha, then continue on another short hop over the coast to Zanzibar. On arrival, meet a driver and head across the island to a secluded beach on the southwest coast. A spacious oceanfront villa with private pool and garden becomes home for the next six nights, with all meals and selected drinks included.
These days are kept deliberately open. Mornings might begin with a swim before breakfast, followed by time on the sand or in the shade of the gardens. Optional activities range from snorkelling trips and local dhow cruises at sunset to cultural visits in Stone Town or guided forest walks in search of red colobus monkeys. Spa treatments, yoga and simple walks along the shoreline can all be woven in as desired. Evenings bring soft light over the lagoon, long dinners and unhurried family time.
Day
13-14
Spend a final morning at leisure on Zanzibar, perhaps with a last swim or a quiet stroll along the beach. In the early evening, meet a driver for the journey back to the airport and check in for the overnight flight to Doha.
On arrival in the Gulf, connect to the daytime service back to London. Touch down the same afternoon, carrying home impressions of crater rims, Serengeti sunsets and the warm, slow rhythm of island days on Zanzibar.
